Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candle Making with Jessica Kaufman
December 21, 2024 @ 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

About the Workshop: Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candle Making
This year, shine brightly on the shortest day of the year by creating your own beautiful, sustainable light! Dipping tapered beeswax candles is a craft as old as time, and with recycled beeswax, you can feel even better about utilizing this precious resource for your own cozy comfort. So, come celebrate Solstice in style with a group of friends old and new. We will circle around the fire (well, stovetop!) and dive into this soothing, meditative activity. Workshop participants will walk away with two pairs of twinned dip candles (4 candles total) – as well as the know-how to make your own at home!
In this class, students will:
- Make two pairs of hand dipped candles (or more, with cost adjusted accordingly!)
- Learn about wick size & shape selection
- Understand the process of recycling and reclaiming used beeswax
- Become proficient in tapering (slowly growing) the candle shape
- Acquire skill in trimming bottom drips for a candle that stands on its own
- Master the cooling/heating control required for candle making
This class will be held indoors on Saturday December 21, 2024, from 3pm – 6pm in Asheville, NC.
This class is suitable all levels! The minimum age is 10, participants under age 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
