Due to the widespread devastation of the area, our annual Fundraising Gala is canceled. Can you help us meet our goal, and continue to share the skills that build resilient communities?
It is in these historic moments that our vision at The Firefly Gathering reveals its real-world impact. Through all these years of gathering and expanding our year-round offerings, our community has nurtured the very skills and personal connections that create the foundation for real-time mutual aid. We are filled with gratitude to see familiar faces from our Firefly community now organizing and distributing materials, offering first aid, filling and distributing water, gas, generators, and firewood, preparing free hot meals daily, giving hugs and so much more.
Again and again, we hear from rescue workers how they’ve never seen community readiness and responses like they’ve seen here in Barnardsville and the surrounding areas. These grassroots efforts are not easy to measure on paper, but are deeply fulfilling examples of the community drawn to this area over the decades.
Like a firefly, our beauty is brightest together. And right now, we need your help. Each year, our Fall Gala brings in around $15,000, covering our winter operating budget to keep planning and hosting our Perennial Workshops and the early planning for the Annual Gathering. In the wake of Helene and the devastation of the area, the loss of this major event is a gap we are asking for our community to help to fill.
