Wild Basketry with Nancy Basket
Join The Firefly Gathering’s beloved Cherokee elder Nancy Basket as she weaves a tale of humor, wisdom and indigenous stories, all while instructing us how to make a small ribbed basket. She’ll teach us how to take invasive wisteria and kudzu vines and transform them into beautiful and functional works of art.
Wild Basketry Workshop Details
The class will be held on Wednesday, October 20 from 10am – 2pm at a beautiful private homestead in Weaverville, NC – about 15 minutes north of Asheville, NC. The class will be outdoors in a covered location. Bring either a chair or a blanket to be comfortable sitting while working on your baskets. Please bring any snacks or lunch that you will need to be happy and stay focused, as well as a water bottle with water (refills will be available).
Each participant needs to bring their own set of pruners to split and work with the vines.
